MIG0624LP1
24 kA impulse current generator for GDTs
GDTs are crowbar devices presenting a near short circuit in conduction.Testing 2 terminal Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) components with high energy impulses is used to check the impulse current handling
Surge Protection Devices (SPD) are usually a combination of elements, including varistors, Gas Discharge Tubes (GDT) and resistors. The extremely high current handling capabilities of GDT devices are verified using the 8(20 us and 10/1000 us impulses. MIG0624LP1 generator incorporates both these current impulses into a single unit. With four independent outputs, generator source impedance can be adjusted to suit the device being tested. All outputs connected together deliver 24 kA 8/20 us impulse and 320 A 10/1000 us impulse. High voltage outputs on the top plate are separated from the user interface and with a test cabinet provide optimum personnel protection.
